Please refer to the JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) standards in order to decide the number of hours required  based on your ultimate language goal.

JLPT(Japanese Language Proficiency Test) is  a standardized test to evaluate and certify the language proficiency of non-native Japanese speakers. It is held once a year and has 4 levels (beginning at the level 4 and progressing to level 1, the most difficult).
